outrageous oreo crunch brownies

When I was in middle school, I practically lived at my best friend Julia's house. Every afternoon, we would head back to our neighborhood and spend hours walking around the block while gossiping about boys, our favorite celebrities (George Clooney as Detective James Falconer on Sisters) and our latest purchases from Gap Kids (purple jeans for her and peasant blouses for me--which were the height of fashion back in 1994, I swear). But first, we needed sustenance. So we would drop our backpacks inside her front door, head into the kitchen, and have "a row." A row of Oreos that is.

You heard me. Blessed with the metabolisms of pre-teen girls whose afternoons consisted of constant exercise, we would polish off an entire row of Oreos. Each. Every single day. It's been a long time since I've consumed an entire row of Oreos, but these Outrageous Oreo Crunch Brownies brought me right back to Julia's kitchen. Packed with enough of the famous cookies to feed a small army, they make for a truly indulgent treat. Perhaps not as outrageous as a row a day, but still a decadent and satisfying afternoon snack for kids of any age.

um...YUM. PS "a row" sort of makes oreos sound like something illegal.
