{twd} blueberry crumb cake

My love of dessert for breakfast has been well documented, so needless to say, I was excited when I saw that this week's Tuesdays with Dorie recipe was a Blueberry Crumb Cake.

Something that has also been well documented: my complete inability to exercise any sort of portion control when serving myself slices of cake. So when I heard that this recipe was getting rave reviews from other TWD members, I decided that it would be safer to make it into individually portioned muffins.

And it's a good thing I did, because the raves were well deserved. This is the best breakfast cake I have ever had. The cake is light, sweet, and bursting with flavor, and as for the crumb topping...well I think that I'd be happy living on that alone for the next week. I loved the combination of blueberries and lemon zest, but I'm sure that it would be equally delicious with raspberries, blackberries, peaches, or just about anything else you can come up with.

Great job! Your muffins look awesome. I practice portion control by giving away most of what I bake to family/friends/neighbors :)

This is the perfect recipe for me - I am with you on having dessert for breakfast, and I also may have lived on crumb topping alone for days at a time (after a particularly enthusiastic day of coffee cake baking). This looks delicious, and the photos are great!
